to contact me in regards to any of this or even just to talk, the email i have set up is standtogether.neveralone(at)gmail.com anything you send to me will be kept private unless i have permission to share it.
one of my all time favorite quotes while doing my research in regards to this topic, i found a quote by e.e. cummings who just happens to be my favorite people ever. it goes as follows..
"to be nobody-but-myself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make me everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting"
we as a society hear all of these stories of rape, sexual assault and child molestation. what are we doing as a society to stop this? where did our country go wrong with teaching our youth and young adults what rape, assault and abuse does to our children, teenagers and adults? doing research and finding others stories, vidoes, songs, quotes etc. these are all things i've found that seem to comfort me. something that reaches out to me and empowers to me to not let my incident bring me down. he will not have control over me. he will not have power to dictate who i am, where i am going in my life or what i am truly capable of. no matter the difference of opinion on what happened.
we are all scared. the abuse, rapes, assault.. they range from every spectrum. it could be someone you trust, a family member, a best friend, a co-worker or a complete stranger. either way, no matter who it is that has put you in that situation is in the wrong. these videos show statistics that will blow your mind. we need to do better as a society to raise awareness of what these sexual acts are doing to our future generations and our current generations.
if you've ever been through a traumatic experience involving any type of sexual assault, you are a victim and no matter how bad or guilty you may feel, it is not you fault. if you don't feel comfortable going to the police, find someone to talk to you. i've set up an email which will remain completely anonymous unless you would like your story shared (with names changed of course).
there are a few websites that i've found comforting and even though my story may not be as severe or come even close to what they went through, to know we have a community out there that we can talk to and make ourselves feel a little less alone helps. please see below the videos for the links to these websites.
